What is a pay dig?

A pay dig is an opportunity for guests to pay for access to a designated dig site where they can search for and keep any artifacts they uncover. At Texas Pay Digs, you’ll use professional screening tables and dig in areas known for historical significance, all while enjoying the thrill of discovery. All we ask is have a great dig and photos of what you find.

Do I need experience to participate or is it strenuous?

Our dig experience is open to beginners and seasoned diggers alike. Our knowledgeable team will provide instructions and guidance to ensure a safe and enjoyable dig for everyone. You should be in relatively good shape, and it is as easy as moving some dirt on a sifting table with your arms and hands.

Can kids participate?

Yes, ForeSure with a paid adult and supervision is required any kid under the age of 12 is Free! Make sure they stay close to you and are at the screening table with you.

What should I bring with me?

We recommend bringing sunscreen, gloves, a hat, and any other personal items you may need for a comfortable day outdoors. We provide bottled water to keep hydrated.

Can someone share my table for free because they don’t move that much dirt?

While we understand that some guests may not actively work or move dirt, every table and dig space is part of a limited reservation system, which is why we kindly ask that all participants pay the regular dig fee. This helps us continue offering top-notch service, expert site preparation, and an enjoyable experience for everyone.

What if I find something valuable?

Any artifacts you find are yours to keep! We respect the excitement of discovery and want you to enjoy the full experience of unearthing Texas history firsthand.

Are there any age restrictions?

We welcome diggers of all ages, but children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Digging can be physically demanding, so please consider each participant’s abilities. Kids under 12 are free with a paid adult.

Can I get a refund if I can’t make it?

Due to limited availability and advance preparation, all deposits and bookings are non-refundable. However, we may be able to reschedule your dig if you notify us in advance, depending on availability.

What if there’s bad weather on my dig day?

Digs are held rain or shine, but if severe weather makes digging unsafe, we may reschedule. Or if the place is just too muddy to dig and not pass through the screening tables. We’ll contact you with rescheduling options if this occurs.

How do I book a dig?

You can book directly through our website texaspaydigs.net. Select your date and time, pay the deposit, agree to our terms and waiver, and you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details.

Can I bring my own screening table?

No, due to liability reasons. We provide professional safe screening tables for everyone.

Will I have my own screening table?

Yes, we are one of the only know dig sites that do not make you share a table with a stranger. Unless people want to share its up to you.

Can I walk around and surface hunt?

No, please stay at your screening table or close to it. Hand digging and walking the property to surface hunt or just look around is not allowed unless authorization is given.

Are there bathrooms?

Same place the natives went behind a tree in the woods, please bring necessary items. There is a gas station close by with public restrooms.
